CV:
Pinar Selek, born on the 8th of November 1971 in Istanbul , graduated from the Sociology Department of Mimar Sinan University and later on finished her graduate studies in the same university. She studied and prepared a thesis on media and globalization. During master's degree she studied on heterosexism. Furthermore she attended Economy Politic lessons from UDEL, France. Now she is doctorante of political science in Strasbourg University . She published six books so far: One on the exclusion of the transvestites and transsexuals, one on the history of the peace movement in Turkey and translated a book on the indigenous movement in Mexico , one on the masculinity in Turkey . After being kept in prison for two and a half years due to her research on the Kurdish Question, she has been continuing the struggle for peace. She is one of the important activists in anti militarist-peace movement as well as the founder and one of the leading organizers of Amargi Women's Organization. She is editor of the publishing board the review Amargi, the theoretical feminist review in Turkey . Selek's articles get published in various books, newspapers and magazines.
